This fully escorted vacation includes breakfast each day, all hotels, transportation, touring & all taxes. First we travel from Rapid City to Denver and overnight. The next morning, we depart Denver aboard Amtrak bound for Grand Junction via The Majestic Rocky Mountains.

After we leave Denver aboard Amtrak, we head west and start to climb up towards the Moffat Tunnel and experience the grandeur of the majestic Rocky Mountains with our final destination today being Grand Junction. 1st Class accommodations include Breakfast and Lunch… just a delightful way to enjoy both a meal and the magnificent scenery.

Two days to explore this delightful area as we take our drive along the rim of sheer-walled canyons past towering monoliths of the Colorado National Monument. The Historic Rim Rock Drive offers 23 miles of breathtaking panoramic views and numerous overlooks.

With Moab, UT as our next base, we tour the world renowned Arches National Park where natural wonders abound us. Arches National Park, contains the world's largest concentration of natural arches. Then of course there is Canyonlands National Park offering some of the most awesome scenery you will ever see.
But, our sightseeing is not yet over as we wind our way back through the majestic Rocky Mountains we take 1 overnight in Vail, CO followed by an amazing drive on one or the Top Ten most scenic drives in the USA crossing the Continental Divide ‘Trail Ridge Road for our overnight in Estes Park.

ITINERARY:


Day 1: Black Hills to Denver, CO
This morning, we depart the Black Hills with our destination as Denver with an estimated time of arrival around 4pm to 5pm.

Day 2: Denver to Grand Junction, CO
After breakfast we leave our hotel at 7.15am. The station is just about 3 miles away. Our train leaves at Denver approximately 8.20AM. After boarding our 1st Class compartment we start our climb up towards the Moffat Tunnel and experience the grandeur of the majestic Rocky Mountains with our final destination being Grand Junction (260 miles). We are scheduled to arrive in Grand Junction around 4.15pm, and then transfer to our hotel. Free time to explore Grand Junction, CO.

Day 3: Grand Junction – Rimrock Drive for Colorado National Monument to Moab, UT
Today, we depart the hotel at 9.00am we head for Utah and the town of Moab. But first, we take the beautiful ‘Rimrock’ drive for the Colorado National Monument which boasts a rugged land of determination and toughness. Today you will be driving among rock layers that are nearly two billion years old — almost half the age of the Earth. Extraordinary forces of erosion and time carved these layers. A stop for lunch will be made near Fruita before continuing to Moab where we expect a mid-afternoon arrival.

Day 4: Touring The Arches National Park, UT
This morning we head out for a full day of touring. Natural wonders abound as we tour Utah's world renowned national parks- Arches National Park, containing the world's largest concentration of natural arches.

Day 5: Touring Canyonlands National Park
Today it’s Canyonlands National Park. Canyonlands preserves a colorful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. The rivers divide the park into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. While these areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, each retains its own character and offers different opportunities for exploration.

Day 6: Moab, Grand Junction and then Vail, CO  (270 miles)
Alas, it’s time to say goodbye to Moab as we head back towards Grand Junction and Vail, CO. We make regular comfort breaks and a stop for lunch. Arriving in Vail mid-afternoon we have time to explore this picturesque village in the Rocky Mountains.

Day 7: Vail, CO to Estes Park, CO (200 miles)
After breakfast this morning, it’s time to embark on the journey of a lifetime through Rocky Mountains National Park and across the Continental Divide… Hold on to your hat as we see some unbelievable views on this exhilarating passage. We arrive late mid-afternoon into Estes Park, CO.

Day 8: Estes Park, CO to the Black Hills (365 miles)
After breakfast we leave Estes Park at 8am for our journey back to Rapid City, SD
